Old-School Alice

Howdy, I created these Alice pieces back in 2008! Gee...Where has the time gone!?
While I do adore everything Alice, I do look back at these and cringe slightly. Only because so much time has gone past and I now realise how much my technical skills have developed. But never the less I am still happy with these pieces, I may revamp them slightly If I ever do decide to get them printed.

Alice Dolls

There are so many Alice themed dolls out there and yet they can be so hard to track down and even more expensive to buy! I found these cute Pook-a-Looz plush toys that are affordable from $15 - $20 or even less on Amazon. Disney will soon be releasing these toys in vinyl! ( I love the Queen of Hearts the best!)

If that's not quite you cup of tea though, then how about these little Pullip dolls, I love them!
Again you can buy them from Amazon for around $30+
I often find that Alice dolls look a little weird but I love her here, she's so cute!
Stay tuned for the letter D in the Alice Alphabet, coming soon!

Fulvio Bisca

Have a look at the amazing work of Fulvio Bisca!
Fulvio is a freelance Illustrator and Graphic & Type Designer from Torino, Italy.
His Alice in Wonderland illustrations featured in the 2007 Italian Illustrators Annual.

I love the use of mixed media and how we get to see how he creatively made each piece.

A torch light has been projected on the ceiling of a dark room and digitized through a broken scanner. The resulting image has been used to compose Fan%Gloves background.

Alice in Wonderland - Mad Tea Party. Folded paper, fabric, digital medium.

Pencil sketch laid over the background before the digital painting session. The abstract lines suggesting a tree shape have been obtained leaning folded magazines on an open scanner in vertical position.

Twisted paper strips have been digitized through an open scanner in a dark room. The resulting image has been laid over the painted illustration to obtain the steam effect in Mad Tea Party. A similar procedure has been used for the window (Cover), teeth (Cheshire), objects (Fan&Gloves) and smoke (Caterpillar).

Alice in Wonderland - Caterpillar. Folded paper, fabric, couscous, leaves, digital medium.

Couscous spread on the scanner glass has been digitized and used to render the skin texture in Caterpillar.

Hope you enjoyed xo
